The designer became the go-to-guy for Hillary when she needed to carry out official engagements, to the point that the former Secretary of State chose Oscar to design her mother-of-the-bride dress at her daughter Chelsea's wedding in 2010. Hillary wore a plum-coloured gown with a full skirt, in keeping with the bride's style.
Oscar revealed that he championed Hilary's cause to land her a cover on Vogue back in 1998.
"I was able to convince Anna [Wintour] to put her on the cover," he said. "I did a lot to define to the viewer who Hillary actually is. [The cover shot] was taken when she was still in the White House. I do remember at the time her advisers weren't sure if it was the right thing to do, but in the end, she said, 'Oscar, you have a great instinct about me. Let's do it.'"
